To many, living in Florida is like being neighbors and good buddies with Mickey Mouse: a dream come true for any five year old. However, the caveat of essentially reading in paradise is that you don't get to be on a perennial vacation afterall. You actually have to do the mundane chores like work and laundry and grocery shopping. Imagine!
Unfortunately, this is where we often fall into that trap being ungrateful for the magical place we do get to experience on a daily basis. It becomes just another part of the scenery.
I have found that the more of life I have seen through travel, work, and volunteering, the more I notice and feel blessed for the small moments in my own life. I love this picture because it reminds me that while I may only see the water's dark surface, underneath is this entire ecosystem of life and brilliance existing unbeknownst to me.
You don't have to live near the beach to appreciate some part of your day. All I ask is that when begin to feel as if the world has lost its luster, that you look a little deeper. There is beauty and hope to be found- it is there waiting for you.
